What is a Stakeholder? | Definition and Overview

Stakeholder: A party who affects, or can be affected by, an organization's actions. They usually include the organization's employees, consumers, surrounding communities, shareholders, investors and the government. In a broader context, stakeholders may also include suppliers, labor unions, government agencies, industry trade groups, professional associations, and other advocacy groups, prospective employees, prospective customers, competitors and the general public.
